Dhurandhar OTT release: Interesting strategy opted for Telugu & Tamil versions

Bollywood blockbuster Dhurandhar, headlined by Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, has smashed the box office left, right, and centre. The spy action thriller earned over Rs. 1300 crores gross in its lifetime.

Achieving such numbers with just a single language and without the Gulf market proves why Dhurandhar is one of the biggest hits of all-time in Indian cinema.

Dhurandhar is now streaming on Netflix in multiple languages, including Telugu and Tamil. Interestingly, the makers have opted for a unique strategy for the dubbed versions. The film’s soundtrack, composed by Shashwat Sachdev, is absolutely goated and features some amazing tracks, including vintage Bollywood songs. Surprisingly, the Hindi songs have not been dubbed in the Telugu and Tamil versions and are retained in their original form.

It seems the team felt that dubbing the songs would undermine their essence, and hence decided to retain the Hindi songs even in the South versions. Overall, this appears to be a wise move by the makers. Of late, we’ve seen several films receive flak for horrible dubbing (songs), and the Dhurandhar team has done the unthinkable by avoiding it altogether.
