Amid a decent buzz, Disney’s latest animation biggie, The Lion King, released yesterday (July 19) in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. Popular Indian stars like Shah Rukh Khan, his son Aryan Khan, Siddharth, Nani and Jagapathi Babu have dubbed for key characters in the movie’s 4 versions.
As per the trade updates, The Lion King grossed a good Rs 13.17 crore with a total all-India nett of Rs 11.06 crores on its opening day across India. The film has even beaten Jungle Book’s day 1 collections. Incidentally, Jungle Book went on to gross over Rs 100 crores in India a couple of years ago.
With The Lion King attracting the family, youth and senior audiences equally, a Rs 100 crore finish seems highly possible.
