Drishyam 3, headlined by Mohanlal, emerged as a box office hit despite mixed reviews. The crime thriller will make its OTT debut tomorrow (June 18) on Amazon Prime Video in multiple languages. Initially, the streamer announced that the Telugu version would also be available simultaneously, but there’s a twist. As per the latest update, the dubbed version won’t be available for streaming.
Rajkumar Theatres Pvt. Ltd holds the exclusive rights for the Telugu remake of Drishyam 3, and the company has filed a suit before the Madras High Court seeking a permanent injunction restraining the makers from remaking and exploiting the film in Telugu, anywhere in the world. The plaintiff argued that streaming the Telugu version would result in a violation of its copyright.
The High Court granted an injunction restraining the team from releasing the Telugu version on OTT. Until the dispute is resolved, Amazon Prime Video cannot stream the Telugu version on its platform, and this is surely disappointing news for Telugu movie buffs.
