The teaser of India’s costliest film, Ramayana, was dropped a couple of days ago. The mythological epic stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in the lead roles. The promotional asset received mixed reactions, with some audiences feeling the visuals were not up to the mark.
While interacting with Collider at the recently held Ramayana teaser launch in Los Angeles, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that he plays both Rama and Parshurama in the film. If you think Ranbir plays Lord Rama and Dasaratha, you are mistaken.
Ranbir said, “Just to get the opportunity, you know, how I got to play Lord Rama, to also play Lord Parshurama was fantastic. I think as an actor, apart from body language, I think if you deeply understand the spirituality and the emotionality of the characters, I think everything starts from there. I think that’s what I did the year leading up to the shoot of Ramayana, to understand who these people and characters are, what they stand for, and what their motives are.”
Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey will play the roles of Hanuman and Lakshman, respectively. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the first part is set for a Diwali 2026 release.
