Mollywood star Dulquer Salmaan’s crime drama, Kurup, had a grand release yesterday. Dulquer fans are thrilled to see the actor in a terrific makeover and his character which is based on a notorious conman named Sukumara Kurup.
But right on the release day, Kurup has landed in a legal trouble. A PIL has been filed in Kerala High Court against the movie citing violation of right to privacy of Sukumara Kurup. The PIL has sought an immediate ban on the screening of the film Kurup. The Kerala HC has issued notices to the Centre, the State Government, Interpol, and film producers. But the HC has not issued any stay order on the film yet.
Sukumara Kurup had allegedly murdered a person in the 80s to fake his own death and claim the insurance money. The biopic also stars Sobhita Dhulipala and Anupama Parameswaran and it has been directed by Srinath Rajendran.
