Abhishek Nama’s mythological action drama Nagabandham, featuring Virat Karrna, is gearing up for a grand PAN-India release this Summer. The teaser is set to drop on the 15th February, marking the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Ahead of the teaser, the makers have unveiled the first look of another key character.
Rishabh Sawhney, known for his commanding presence in the Bollywood film Fighter, is essaying the role of the infamous Afghan Sultan Abdali. Set in 1750, the film recounts Abdali’s conquest in India, detailing his notorious acts of looting temples and his relentless pursuit of vast wealth.
The first-look poster presents a powerful visual set on a storm-battered, snow-clad battlefield. Rishabh is seen charging forward, wielding a massive, blood-stained battle axe with fierce determination. A vast army advances behind him, with green war flags ripping through the icy winds, alongside archers, warriors, and towering war elephants, creating a high-voltage war spectacle.
In Nagabandham, Abdali is portrayed as an ambitious and brutal figure, ready to sacrifice countless lives, including Brahmins and children, in his relentless pursuit of the mythical Naga Bandham hidden in the Himalayas. The character is shown as a dark and formidable presence in history, infamous for his extreme ruthlessness.
Director Abhishek Nama lauded Rishabh’s performance, stating that his portrayal is so authentic. Expressing his thoughts, Rishabh said, “It is an honor to take on a character as demanding as Abdali. I tried to capture the layers and motivations of this historical figure while staying true to the soul of the story.”
The film features Nabha Natesh and Iswarya Menon as the female leads. Jagapathi Babu, Jayaprakash, Murali Sharma, and BS Avinash will be seen in impactful roles. Produced by Kishore Annapureddy and Nishitha Nagireddy, the movie is now entering the final leg of its production.
