Marvel’s latest sensation, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is rewriting the record books at the Indian box office. After delivering the biggest opening ever for a Hollywood film in the country, the superhero spectacle has raced past the Rs. 200 crore gross mark within just three days.
Sony Pictures India officially announced that the Tom Holland starrer has collected a phenomenal Rs. 216 crore gross across all languages in India. Interestingly, after Friday turned out to be the lowest-grossing day of its extended opening weekend, the film bounced back in style on Sunday with a massive Rs. 85 crore gross, reflecting its extraordinary hold.
The film’s three-day haul has comfortably eclipsed the opening weekend numbers of recent Hollywood releases in India, including Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. With no major competition until next weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to continue its dominant run and add significantly to its already staggering total.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film features Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Florence Pugh in pivotal roles. It is produced by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Pascal Pictures.
