Maverick Kollywood director Shankar and Tollywood star Ram Charan joined hands with each other for the pan-India political drama, Game Changer. The film marked star Tollywood producer Dil Raju’s 50th production. Also starring Kiara Advani and SJ Suryah in lead roles, the film was released during the Sankranthi festive season and ended up being a huge disaster at the box office.

In a recent interview while promoting his upcoming directorial, Suriya’s Retro, the film’s director and Game Changer’s story writer, Karthik Subbaraj, revealed a crucial tidbit. Karthik said that he initially narrated a one-line story of a humble IAS officer to Shankar. “The story was later turned into a completely different world. Several writers were involved, and the story and screenplay were changed,” Karthik revealed.

Incidentally, a day after Game Changer’s release in January, Karthik took to X and heaped praises on Shankar and Game Changer. “Game Changer was super entertaining with vintage Shankar Sir’s grand mass action vibes and political punches,” Karthik Subbaraj posted. He went on to thank Shankar for letting him be part of his grand vision. Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro is gearing up for its theatrical release on May 1, 2025.
