Gautham Menon has finally broken his silence over the tussle with former friend and producer Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment. Elred Kumar had filed a case against Gautham Menon in Madras High Court alleging that Gautham Menon had failed to honour the commitment to direct a film for his banner despite taking the advance amount years ago. In fact, there was a buzz that the court might bar Gautham Menon from making any films till he directs a film under RS Infotainment banner.

In a detailed letter to the media, Gautham Menon explained that the high court had quashed the petition filed by Elred Kumar and also stated that he has already directed four films under the producer’s banner. “In fact, Elred Kumar was quite happy when Neethane En Ponvasantham released. Just because the film didn’t do as well as he expected, he’s taking revenge on me. Elred says that he’s still my friend and that he has sent the notice to protect his company’s interests. I fail to understand why friends would drag each other to court,” Gautham Menon argued.

In an emotional statement, Gautham Menon urged the media and his well-wishers to help him in this issue and said that Elred Kumar has been harassing him. “This isn’t even about me running around battling these cases and media reports instead of being able to write and make movies-which is my means of putting food on the table for my family. This is about me. My character, my intent and my credibility which has been put on the stand. My last learning from all of this is that there are those with talent and those without. And those without will always latch on, feed off and try and survive off people with. And I know I still have my ability with me. This is a creative field where films have to be made with passion and love. And I only want to make films that way,” he said. It remains to be seen what’s going to happen next. Gautham Menon is planning to direct a film with Suriya and it might go on floors later this year.
