Piracy has been a long-standing issue the Indian film industry has been countering for the past few decades. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s recently released pan-India romantic drama, Thandel, too, has fallen prey to the pirates, who released a high quality HD print on the day the movie hit theaters. Not stopping there, a local cable channel went on to telecast the movie on Saturday.
Thandel producer Bunny Vas opened up about the film’s piracy issue. He reminded how those who were arrested in the Geetha Govindam piracy case are still in jail. “While some are still in jail, a few people are finally coming out of the cases after spending several years in jail. We will not leave those who pirated or watched the pirated copy of Thandel. We were enjoying Thandel’s success for the past two days. We will go after the pirates from now on,” said Bunny Vas.
Thandel, directed by Chandoo Mondeti, narrates the love story of a fisherman named Raju and a village belle named Sathya. Chay and Sai Pallavi’s performances and DSP’s superhit music are the major highlights of Thandel.
