Govt to certify content on OTT platforms like Netflix?

So far, content on the digital platforms has been going strong and no holds barred thanks to no official regulatory board in India having the censorship rights in that space. But it looks like things could change!

The Information and Broadcast Ministry apparently invited members of various OTT platforms to offer recommendations on how certification can be done for content online.

The move could have been a result of the outrage from religious groups that came in after the show Leila was aired on Netflix. This development is being looked at with raised eyebrows from the fraternity that was looking at the digital space as a freer space for creative expression.
