Acclaimed Bollywood musical coming of age drama, Gully Boy, is out of Oscars race. This Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer was chosen as India’s official entry at 92nd Academy Awards in September. However, the film has not found a place in the top 10 foreign movies that made it to the shortlisted entries.
Hot favorites South Korea’s Parasite, French film Les Miserables and Spanish film Pain and Glory will compete with 7 other movies to win the Oscar for the Best Foreign Language film. The Oscars night will be held in February next year in the USA.
Gully Boy was directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced jointly by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film was released earlier this year and it was a major hit at the box-office.
