Heeramandi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is now streaming on Netflix. The historical drama is fronted by yesteryear actress Manisha Koirala, in which she played a courtesan. In a recent interview, the actress revealed some startling details. Manisha Koirala said that she battled depression and mood swings during the Heeramandi shoot.
Manisha Koirala said, “Impacted by cancer, I know how body and mind are intertwined. They are dependable. Even now, I face depression sometimes. Honestly speaking, while working on Heeramandi, depression consumed me so much. I just focused on sailing through that phase during that time.”
Talking about her role in the series, Manisha said, “Mallikajaan is unlike any other character that I have played in the past. It was possible only because a genius like Sanjay Leela Bhansali guided me. He took a lot of caution and directed each of us minutely. I have always been a director’s actor, but when you work with Bhansali, you go the extra mile.”
