Superstar Rajinikanth will be next seen in the much-anticipated sequel Jailer 2. The first installment, directed by Nelson, was a monstrous blockbuster, earning over Rs. 600 crores globally. Initially, the movie was expected to be released in June, and later developments suggested an Independence Day week release.
However, the project is taking more time than expected. Recently, speculations hinted at either a September 10 or September 11 release, but those dates have now been blocked by Sardar 2 and Demonte Colony 3. The movie won’t arrive during the Dussehra holidays either, as Dhanush’s OM was announced for an October 15 release.
Generally, makers of big-ticket films avoid releasing during the non-holiday season, and hence, the October slot also appears to be ruled out. So, it seems that Jailer 2 will now be released during Diwali. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
Even if Jailer 2 arrives during the Diwali festive season, it will face massive competition from Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana. Jailer 2 will reportedly feature a cameo by Hrithik Roshan.
