It’s been 8 days since Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer released in cinemas worldwide and the film continues to wreak havoc on the global box office. The Nelson directorial has grossed nearly Rs 425 crore so far, and is gearing up to enter the Rs 500 crore club by this weekend.
Now, amid a string of record smashing feats, Jailer has now surpassed the lifetime collection of legendary Tamil star Kamal Haasan’s Vikram in the Gulf region. As per the latest updates from trade circles, Jailer grossed $5.2 million in 8 days. The film has pushed back Vikram ($5.05) to clinch the all-time highest grossing Tamil movie in the GCC region and that too within just 8 days of its release.
After Vikram, 2.0 ($4.19M), Ponniyin Selvan 1 ($4.1M) and Kabali ($3.2M) secured the third, fourth and fifth spots respectively. The fact that Ranjini has three all-time highest grossers in the top 5 list reiterates his impeccable star power. Needless to say, Jailer is all set to destroy almost all the existing box office records by the end of its full-run.
