Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan disappointed everyone with its content. The action drama received outright negative reviews, and the word of mouth has also been poor. The criticism is mainly directed at the bland second half and the boring villain track.
According to trade reports, Jana Nayagan collected in the vicinity of Rs. 80 crores gross on its opening day globally. This is the lowest opening for a Vijay film in recent years, even behind Beast. The continuous postponements, piracy, and poor content restricted the film to below the Rs. 100 crore mark.
For other actors, this number might seem good, but given Vijay’s stature, it appears underwhelming. As the reports are not encouraging, it will be interesting to see how the movie fares from here on. Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol in key roles.
