Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan has landed in controversy soon after its trailer release. Sharp-eyed viewers noticed a visible Gemini AI watermark in one of the shots, triggering criticism online.
The issue can be seen at the 00:23 mark in the trailer. In the brief visual, a man holding a machine gun appears on screen, with the Gemini AI logo clearly visible at the bottom-right corner. Many movie lovers felt this was a basic oversight, especially considering the film’s scale and star value.
While a section of Vijay’s fans is defending the use of artificial intelligence, a larger section of general audiences is unhappy with what they see as a careless dependency on AI for a simple shot that could have been filmed practically. The lapse has raised questions about quality control during post-production. How the makers will respond to the criticism remains to be seen.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is a remake of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, with reported tweaks made to suit Vijay’s political image. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead, while Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, and others appear in key roles.
Backed by KVN Productions and featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, the film is slated for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026, in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
