Megastar Chiranjeevi’s cult classic fantasy entertainer, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, re-released in cinemas worldwide yesterday, exactly 35 years after its initial release. Also starring the legendary Sridevi, the movie was directed by K Raghavendra Rao.
During its initial release, there were massive floods in Andhra Pradesh, but the biggie fought against all odds and emerged as an industry hit in Tollywood. Surprisingly, even after 35 years, the film received a bumper response from the audience, with stunning occupancies all over. Families are flocking to catch this timeless classic once again on big screens.
The film, produced by Ashwini Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, collected an impressive Rs. 1.75 crores gross on the first day of its re-release. A three-decade-old film amassing such numbers goes on to prove why Megastar Chiranjeevi is hailed as one of the biggest crowd pullers in Telugu cinema. The movie is expected to post good collections over the weekend too.
