There has been a lot of discussion around Kaithi 2 ever since Lokesh Kanagaraj announced his next film with Allu Arjun (AA23). Many claimed that Kaithi 2 was being delayed further, while some even said that it had been shelved completely. However, in a recent media interaction, the director-turned-actor clarified that Kaithi 2 is very much on and will be his immediate project after AA23.
According to Lokesh, he was earlier supposed to direct a film featuring Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, but he opted out as the story did not meet the requirements. He also explained that Karthi had committed his dates to another film during that period, which is why Kaithi 2 could not take off earlier.
For movie buffs waiting for Kaithi 2, this comes as good news. The film is expected to go on floors in 2027, if everything goes according to Lokesh’s plan. On the other hand, the director also clarified that a standalone Rolex film with Suriya is in the pipeline.
