The release of Kalki 2898 AD initially saw some viewers expressing dissatisfaction with the music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, but opinions gradually changed as the background score eventually resonated strongly with audiences and became one of the film’s major highlights.

On the occasion of his birthday, the team officially wished Santhosh Narayanan and confirmed that he is returning as the composer for the sequel. This update has now cleared the uncertainty surrounding the music department, especially after the composer initially faced mixed reactions from a section of the audience during the first film’s release. His return also highlights how important his soundtrack and background score were to the success of Kalki 2898 AD.

Recently, work on the sequel officially began in Hyderabad with Amitabh Bachchan and other cast members joining the shoot. There has also been significant discussion regarding the role of Sumati following Deepika Padukone’s reported departure from the project. While Sai Pallavi is said to be under consideration for the character, there is still no official confirmation from the makers.

Prabhas is currently occupied with the shooting of Spirit, but he is expected to join the sets of the Kalki sequel very soon. Director Nag Ashwin reportedly remains highly confident about the upcoming chapter, with the team planning to release the film in 2027.
