Legendary actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan has been strongly voicing his severe displeasure over the central government’s recently proposed Cinematography Amendment Bill. Kamal is joined by hundreds of celebrated Indian actors, filmmakers and technicians, who also raised their voice against the controversial bill.
Last night, Kamal took to Twitter and tweeted a couple of pictures from his address at the Parliamentary Standing Committee. Kamal said that the newly proposed bill is dangerous and strangles the voice of freedom of expression. “The bill should be withdrawn immediately by the federal government,” Kamal tweeted.
The bill in question will primarily give the union government more power over film certifications, taking away the autonomy of the CBFC.
