Kannada film Kantara, headlined and directed by Rishab Shetty, was a massive blockbuster at the box office not just in Karnataka but across the nation. Following Kantara’s monumental success, the actor-director is currently working on its prequel, Kantara Chapter 1, which is slated to hit the big screens on October 2, 2025.
The shooting has been wrapped up, and the makers are busy with post-production work. Sandalwood beauty Rukmini Vasanth will be seen in a pivotal role, and today the actress’s first look poster was unveiled. She plays Kanakavathi in this much-awaited film, and looks drop-dead gorgeous in the majestic poster. The poster hints that the actress might be essaying a princess role.
Taking place in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the movie aims to explore the deep-rooted traditions of the Bhuta Kola ritual along with the mythological stories about sacred land protectors. Ajaneesh Lokanath has composed the music, and the biggie is produced by Hombale Films.
