The Tamil film Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, has emerged as a major box office success by grossing over Rs. 147 crore globally during its opening weekend. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film has received a strong response across multiple markets, including the Telugu states.

Amid its successful theatrical run, the film recently sparked controversy over a satirical dialogue referencing legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja and his copyright related legal stance. The scene triggered backlash online, with fans criticizing the makers for allegedly mocking the veteran musician.

Following the criticism, production house Dream Warrior Pictures issued an official statement expressing respect and admiration for Ilaiyaraaja and clarifying that the dialogue was never intended to offend or disrespect him. The makers further confirmed that the concerned portion would be removed or modified in future versions of the film.

Meanwhile, Ilaiyaraaja continues to stay busy professionally and has now officially signed on to compose music for director Karthik Subbaraj’s upcoming tenth feature film, marking another major milestone in the legendary composer’s career.
