Akshay Kumar’s courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2 has hit the big screens yesterday. The film revolves around the courtroom battle that happened after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and depicts Akshay Kumar as the great Chettur Sankaran Nair. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film also features Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles. Karan Johar produced it.
Kesari Chapter 2 opened to excellent reviews all over. Even the Telugu media is in awe of the film’s content, gripping screenplay and lead cast’s award winning performances. Many opine that Kesari 2 is the best film to have come out in recent times. However it’s important that the critical acclaim must get converted into box office numbers.
Akshay Kumar’s recent form hasn’t been great and it was reflected in the openings. According to early estimates Kesari Chapter 2 earned in the vicinity of 7.5-8.5 crores nett in India. Since yesterday was a holiday the opening should have been ideally higher.
As the reports are on the positive side, the movie must register huge growth over the weekend to post a respectable total. Also the makers went ahead with a ‘Controlled Release’ unlike the regular Hindi films and this also had some effect on the opening day numbers.
