Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa, an action thriller directed by Vysakh, was released yesterday. The film also arrived in Telugu, but limited promotions appear to have affected its visibility in the market. Meanwhile, the Malayalam version has received mixed-to-negative reviews.
In a surprising development, the team announced the second part during the success meet and also unveiled its title. Titled Khalifa 2 – The Legacy, the sequel will feature Mohanlal in the lead as Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali, with Prithviraj returning as Aamir Ali. The sequel will continue the story from the first part while placing greater focus on Ahmed Ali’s character.
For those unaware, Mohanlal played Aamir Ali’s grandfather in the first part and made a special appearance. Tovino Thomas was also part of the film in a supporting role.
Produced by Jinu V. Abraham and Suraj Kumar, Khalifa 2 – The Legacy is expected to introduce a few new characters alongside the existing ones. Jakes Bejoy composed the music for the first part.
