Director Vignesh Shivan has returned to the spotlight with Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty. The film has opened to mixed responses across Tamil and Telugu markets, with its futuristic concept earning praise, while the execution has left many underwhelmed.

Amid this, Vignesh Shivan sparked an online debate after sharing a note on Instagram, urging audiences not to record or share scenes from theaters. He specifically requested viewers to avoid posting video clips and instead experience the film fully on the big screen, stressing that such recordings dilute the intended impact and encourage piracy.

However, the internet quickly pointed out a contradiction. The director was seen resharing similar theater-recorded clips on his Instagram stories, triggering criticism and accusations of hypocrisy. Many users even mocked the situation using the film’s own dialogue: “What bro? What’s this bro?”

With social media backlash gaining momentum, it remains to be seen how Vignesh Shivan will respond, and whether the controversy will have any impact on the film’s weekend box office performance.

Backed by Nayanthara and S. S. Lalit Kumar, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the film also features S. J. Suryah and Yogi Babu in key roles.
