Legendary auteur Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming romantic drama, Cheliyaa, is slated to hit the screens on April 7th. The film stars Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari as the lead couple. Dil Raju is releasing the movie in Telugu.
Now, the film’s synopsis posted on the British Board of Film Certification (BBFC) reads – “A military pilot, being held as a prisoner of war, remembers his romance with a local doctor”.
This led to a serious debate among ardent Mani fans who are excited with the speculation that the master filmmaker is once again recreating the magic of his 1992 hit film, Roja. If one observes closely, the plotlines of both Roja and Cheliyaa are quite similar.
In Roja, Aravind Swami is captured by the Kashmiri seperatists, while Karthi is held by Pak military in Cheliyaa. Well, these speculations can get even more interesting and wild even as the film’s release date is fast approaching.
