Massive shakeup in big summer release dates
Published on Mar 19, 2012 8:21 am IST

Summer 2012 will be one of the most hotly contested seasons of the industry with a big release lined up from almost all the major stars. Rana Daggubati will open the summer season with his romantic comedy entertainer ‘Naa Ishtam’. This will be followed by Ram Charan Tej’s ‘Raccha’, NTR’s ‘Dhammu’ ,Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’, Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Gabbar Singh’, Ravi Teja’s ‘Daruvu’ , Allu Arjun’s film with Trivikram Srinivas, Ram’s ‘Endukante Premanta’ and towards the end of summer, Prabhas’s ‘Vaaradhi’ and Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Autonagar Surya’.

While the release dates of all these films were announced sometime back, industry sources are expecting a major shakeup in the schedules. Ram Charan’s ‘Raccha’, which was scheduled earlier for a March 29th release, is now most likely to hit the screens on April 5th. Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’ was originally scheduled for April 5th but latest reports suggest that the movie may be pushed back to the last week of April. NTR’s ‘Dhammu’ was slated for a release on April 19th, but it was pushed to April 27th and reports are circulating once again about an April 19th release now.

Producers are taking care to leave atleast a 7 – 14 day gap between each big release so that collections are not affected. We can expect some sort of clarity in the next few weeks, but if your favourite summer film is slightly postponed, don’t be surprised.
