Master’s deleted scene leaves fans wondering
Published on Feb 7, 2021 8:00 pm IST

Kollywood star Vijay’s Master released on January 13 as a Pongal festive treat for fans. This Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial became a huge money-spinner and grossed over Rs 250 crores. The film even had its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 29.

Yesterday, Amazon Prime Video released a deleted scene from Master and it got everyone talking. The scene has Vijay as ‘Master JD’ interacting with his students and explaining them the ‘art of decision making with a cool mind’ and why star Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is called ‘Captain Cool’. Dhoni’s massive popularity among his Tamil fans thanks to his stint as Chennai Super Kings captain in IPL needs no introduction.

The scene then proceeds to the Principal’s room where Vijay takes on the Principal, his fellow lecturers and parents of two students who grope and shoot video of a young girl student. The entire scene is inspirational and very moving.

Fans are wondering why the makers had to delete such a good and important scene that highlights the atrocities on women. On the other hand, another section is of the opinion that even though the scene is quite good as a standalone scene, it doesn’t fit in the overall narrative. Besides, the scene is of 4:50 minute duration and this would mean that the film’s total duration would exceed 3 hours had the makers chose to keep it.
