Hindi web series Matka King, headlined by Vijay Varma, has garnered solid attention from audiences and achieved sensational viewership. After topping the charts in 17 territories last month, Prime Video has now renewed the series for Season 2. The second installment is currently in development, and the makers have also unveiled a new poster.
The series reportedly emerged as the streamer’s most-watched new Indian scripted show in the last two years. Set against the backdrop of 1960s Bombay, the show follows the journey of humble cotton trader Brij Bhatti, who transforms into an illegal gambling kingpin after starting the ‘Matka’ game.
Following its global launch on April 17, Matka King trended in the top 10 across 37 countries on Prime Video, while it ranked first in 17 countries during its opening week. Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover played key roles. Nagaraj Manjule directed the series.
