May 2026 ended on a disappointing note for Telugu cinema, extending what has been a difficult year for the industry.

Despite high hopes that the summer season would revive box-office fortunes, the month failed to deliver a single major blockbuster. Several small and medium-budget releases arrived in theatres, but most failed to attract audiences or generate meaningful revenues.

Big-ticket films such as Peddi, Lenin, and other anticipated projects were postponed, creating a significant vacuum during one of Tollywood’s most important theatrical windows. Other language films like Drishyam 3 and Veera Bhadrudu were the only films that made some noise.

With summer ending without a notable success, all eyes are now on upcoming releases like Peddi which can bring audiences back to theatres. Let’s see what happens.
