Michael storms the box office, film races towards $500 million globally

Defying the negative reviews, the biographical film Michael, based on the life of the popular American pop singer Michael Jackson, is putting up a great show at the box office. Headlined by Jaafar Jackson, the film has collected $430 million worldwide so far and is now racing towards the $500 million milestone.

It will soon enter the top 10 list of all-time highest-grossing biopics across the world cinema. In India, the biopic has earned Rs. 40 crores nett, a solid figure for a film that has an urban appeal. South pockets have contributed the highest.

The Antoine Fuqua-directed film about the King of Pop showcases his journey in a detailed manner, covering the period from his involvement in the Jackson 5 in the 60s to his early solo career. Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Laura Harrier, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Miles Teller, and others played key roles.
