South Indian star Nayanthara’s controversial Tamil movie Annapoorani is back in the spotlight. The film had faced strong criticism when it first released for allegedly disrespecting Hindu customs. Following the backlash, Netflix removed it from its platform, and Nayanthara issued a public apology.

Now, the film is set to return to OTT. Starting tomorrow, Annapoorani will stream on Jio Hotstar, but only in Hindi. The scenes that caused the earlier controversy have been removed, and the runtime has been cut by ten minutes, making it 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Whether audiences will still watch the film after nearly a year and a half since the controversy is uncertain.

Directed by debutant Nilesh Krishnaa and produced by Jatin Sethi and R. Ravindran under Zee Studios, Naad Studios, and Trident Arts, the movie features a strong supporting cast, including Jai, Sathyaraj, KS Ravi Kumar, Redin Kingsley, Achyuth Kumar, Kumari Sachu, Renuka, Karthik Kumar, and Suresh Chakkaravarthy. The music is produced by Thaman.
