Nayanthara is set to return with Mookuthi Amman 2, the sequel to the 2020 devotional entertainer, with Sundar C directing the film. The movie will be released as Mahasakthi in Telugu and Hindi and has been carrying expectations around Nayanthara’s return in the titular role.
On the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi, the makers unveiled the teaser and announced November 6, 2026 as the theatrical release date. The teaser offers a glimpse of Nayanthara in the divine avatar of Mahasakthi, setting up a larger fantasy world. While the teaser has received a mixed response compared to the first part, the actual content will determine the film’s impact.
The November 6 release puts Mookuthi Amman 2 in a highly competitive Diwali window, with Suriya’s Scene also arriving on the same day. The film will further face competition from the much-awaited Ramayana, making it a tough festive-season battle, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
Regina Cassandra, Duniya Vijay, Yogi Babu, Urvashi and others play key roles. Produced by Vels Film International, Avni Cinemax, Rowdy Pictures and Ivy Entertainment, the film has music by HipHop Tamizha Adhi.
