Mani Ratnam’s big-scale film Ponniyin Selvan 2 was released in theatres a couple of weeks back. The movie mostly received positive reviews from critics. Mani Ratnam was lauded for the way he handled certain portions of the film. Aishwarya Rai and Vikram made their mark in this sequel.
The official news from the makers is that PS 2 is the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. However, the box office performance was relatively lower than the first part though the reviews were good. Again the movie didn’t attract non-Tamil audiences much. Trisha, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi played other vital roles.
Madras Talkies, in association with Lyca Productions, produced this biggie which has the tunes of the Academy-winning music composer AR Rahman. Ponniyin Selvan is based on the novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The streaming rights of the biggie are with Amazon Prime Video.
