Thalapathy Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan has suffered an unexpected setback at the last minute, with the CBFC denying the censor certificate due to multiple reasons. The makers have moved the Madras High Court, and the verdict is still awaited.
We had earlier reported the possibility of a postponement, and the makers have now officially confirmed it through a note. The team stated that this tough decision was taken due to circumstances beyond their control.
KVN Productions mentioned that the new release date would be announced at the earliest. Meanwhile, it will be an uphill task for overseas distributors especially to secure the same level of screens later.
The film had registered strong advance bookings in offshore markets, but the sudden postponement has brought everything to a halt. Fans are deeply disappointed with the latest development, as the CBFC has played spoilsport for the star hero’s final film, directed by H. Vinoth.
The Tamil biggie is based on Balakrishna and Anil Ravipudi’s Bhagavanth Kesari and stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol in significant roles. Anirudh Ravichander is the music composer.
