Netflix has started revealing its upcoming titles, and one of them is Super Subbu. It is Netflix’s first Telugu original series, headlined by Sundeep Kishan in his Telugu OTT debut. The show is created and directed by Mallik Ram, known for Tillu Square.
Netflix has released a quirky, humorous teaser. Sundeep Kishan plays Subbu, a young man tired of his father’s strict control who takes up a teaching job. His father, played by Murali Sharma, notes that Subbu has been rejected by 60 girls. A match is finally fixed with a girl played by Manasa Chaudhary, but the marriage is approved only if he gets a permanent job.
Brahmanandam appears as the department head who posts Subbu to Maakipur, a naive, undereducated rural area. The twist: he must teach sex education, not regular subjects. His struggle to manage the villagers and explain the topic fuels the comedy and drives the story.
Sampoornesh Babu appears as Sundeep’s uncle, while Hyper Aadi and Getup Srinu play supporting roles. Mithila Palkar plays an important village character, and she is the heroine in the series.
The project was announced first at last year’s Netflix event as well, but no release followed. This time too, the makers have not announced a release date. The series is produced by Rajiv Chilaka and his team under Chilaka Productions.
