Rashmika Mandanna’s acclaimed film The Girlfriend made its Netflix debut a couple of weeks ago. Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film has been trending in the second position on the platform. However, it has now been pushed down by a new entry that has taken the top spot.
That film is Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Bhagyashri Borse, and Samuthirakani in lead roles. Released on Netflix last Friday, Kaantha has quickly climbed to No. 1, overtaking all other titles on the chart.
It is interesting to see a film that underperformed theatrically outpace a critically acclaimed release on Netflix. Stay tuned for more such OTT surprises.
