Paid trolls planned against Alia Bhatt

Film critic Anupama Chopra has stirred debate after claiming that the trolling directed at Alia Bhatt during her Cannes 2026 appearance may not have been entirely organic.

Speaking about the controversy, Chopra suggested that some of the criticism appeared to be part of a coordinated or paid campaign.

Alia had faced online backlash after a viral video led some social media users to claim that she was being ignored by photographers at Cannes.

However, several industry personalities and eyewitnesses later defended the actress, arguing that the narrative was misleading and exaggerated.

Even with her teaser of Alpha, the trolling has gone to another level as many feel that she did not suit the role of a spy in the Yash Raj action drama.
