The trailer of Tamil movie Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, was released today in Tamil as a Pongal special. The film is directed by Sudha Kongara and features Atharvaa, Sreeleela, and Jayam Ravi in key roles.
The trailer begins on a simple note. Sivakarthikeyan is shown as the breadwinner of his family, working as a coal worker in the Indian Central Railway. Atharvaa plays his younger brother, a college student. Sreeleela appears as a newly appointed All India Radio anchor.
The tone changes after an incident leads to unrest. What starts as a local issue soon turns into a wider agitation. The trailer clearly points to the Hindi imposition issue, set in 1964, and shows students and the public taking part in protests.
Ravi Mohan is seen as an investigating officer who sides with the establishment, placing him in direct conflict with the movement. Sivakarthikeyan’s character initially avoids involvement, but circumstances force him to step in after a personal loss, carrying forward the cause his brother stood for.
Based on real events from 1964, Parasakthi is presented as a period political drama with strong emotional weight. The trailer keeps the narrative focused and avoids revealing too much, while the visuals and background score set a serious tone.
The film also features Rana Daggubati and Basil Joseph in supporting roles. It is produced by Dawn Pictures, with music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. The movie is releasing on January 10, 2026, as Pongal special.
