Powerstar and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister underwent surgery this morning in Mumbai. He has been suffering from rotator cuff injuries in both shoulders for a long time. During recent medical examinations, specialists advised that surgery must be done at the earliest. Doctors explained to Pawan Kalyan that operating on both shoulders simultaneously would result in unbearable pain.
Therefore, surgery was performed on the right shoulder today to treat the rotator cuff injury. Preliminary medical tests were conducted on Friday. According to the doctors, the surgery lasted three and a half hours. Surgery on the other shoulder will be done after two months.
Enduring the pain for a decade
Pawan Kalyan sustained shoulder injuries in 2016. Although doctors advised him to take adequate rest after first aid, he continued attending public meetings. During the Janasena Party’s Porata Yatra in 2018, party workers often pulled his hands while trying to greet him and shake hands with him. Though it caused pain, he endured it.
After the 2019 elections, while visiting Rayalaseema, particularly Madanapalle, to understand the problems faced by tomato farmers, party workers and fans came close to greet him, shake hands, and embrace him affectionately, which aggravated the injuries. Even then, he did not pay much attention to them, and the same continued during the 2024 general elections campaigning.
In April, when Pawan Kalyan underwent nose surgery, several medical examinations were conducted. During those tests, doctors found that the rotator cuff injuries and muscle tears in both shoulders had become severe. The doctors were surprised that he had been tolerating such serious injuries and advised immediate surgery.
