Peddi release faces acid test amid Tollywood crisis

Tollywood is currently going through one of its toughest phases, with exhibitors, distributors, and producers openly expressing concerns over the worsening theatrical situation.

The ongoing disputes regarding percentage-sharing systems, rising operational costs, and the steady closure of single-screen theatres have created tension across the industry.

Adding to the worries is the decline in theatre footfalls, with many exhibitors blaming OTT releases and inconsistent film output for the drop in audience interest.

Several theatre owners have even warned of shutdowns if the situation does not improve soon. At such a critical time, the release of Peddi on June 4 has become a major talking point.

Trade circles are now questioning whether the ongoing crisis and uncertain theatrical environment could affect the film’s box-office performance and overall release plans.

But many feel that Peddi is that kind of a film that will not be impacted one bit due to its star value and lack of films in theaters.
