Legendary director Mani Ratnam has ultimately fulfilled his wish by making a film on the famous Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan. Made as a PAN Indian film, the movie is now a new industry hit in Tamil. It grossed more than 500 crores at the box office.
The makers have announced that part 2 of the film will be released in a grand way on 28th April 2023. A short video featuring Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, and Aishwarya Rai was unleashed to inform the release date. The first part did decent business in other languages, and it needs to be seen how well the sequel will attract the other language audience.
Ponniyin Selvan has an ensemble star cast of Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, and Sobhitha Dulipala. Oscar-winning AR Rahman is composing the tunes. Lyca Productions, in association with Madras Talkies, is bankrolling the biggie.
