Vignesh Sivan, director of popular Tamil films like Naanum Rowdy Thaan and Thaana Serndha Kootam, had the time of his life at the Cannes film festival this year. The director, who often travels with his girlfriend and actress Nayanthara, revealed that it was Rajiv Menon who inspired him to go to watch movies at Cannes film festival.
The highlight of his trip to Cannes was, however, a brief encounter with Quentin Tarantino, one of the most popular directors in the world. Vignesh had even posted a picture of the director, few weeks ago, to tease his fans about his accidental meeting with the maverick filmmaker, but it turns out that there is a lot more to the story.
Talking about his experience of meeting Tarantino, Vignesh Sivan revealed, “I can’t believe I had the guts and the craziness to just walk up to him and introduce myself and my love towards his films. After a few nice words of respect , a strong handshake 🤝, the moment I asked for a picture, he refused 😢! Heart broken I left from there but couldn’t resist stealing a picture of him by sitting in the table next to him.”
Apparently, the director kept visiting the same coffee shop where he met Tarantino to check if he gave pictures to anyone else; however, to his surprise he realised that Tarantino didn’t pose for any picture.
