Director Rahul Sankrityan has clarified a major misconception surrounding his upcoming film Ranabaali. Speaking about the project, he said the film is not related to India’s Independence movement or the freedom struggle in any way.

Rahul explained that the story is set in a world where the characters have very limited knowledge of the outside world. He says the people in the film do not even know how vast the country is. They believe that Madras is the end of the earth and see their own village as an entire country.
