Superstar Rajinikanth’s visit to Thutthukodi, where he met several people who were injured during the recent Sterlite Protests, has sparked a controversy on social media. The actor even lost his cool while interacting with reporters in Chennai airport, and it has left many wondering what exactly he wanted to convey.
It all began when Rajinikanth said that police had to resort to firing because some anti-social elements had made peaceful protests violent; however, he didn’t specify who he believes instigated these anti-social elements. Moreover, he advised people to not resort to protests for everything and that they should take a legal route to fight against giant corporations. “It is a matter of jobs, livelihood, and economy. We can’t let Tamil Nadu suffer, although incidents like these should never happen again,” Rajinikanth reasoned.
His statements have come as a big surprise to many people, who weren’t expecting Rajinikanth to take a similar stand as that of the state government. While everyone appreciated him for standing by the victims of the protests and donating Rs 2 lakhs to the families of the deceased, his other political statements have sparked an unwanted controversy for him.
