The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, features Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in the lead roles. Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha grabbed eyeballs, and her presence amplified the film’s hype.
A fan wrote an open letter to the actress, asking what made her play such a ‘misunderstood character’ in the first place, besides sending her best wishes. The letter caught Rakul’s attention, and she replied, “Thank you for this beautiful letter. What made me say yes to Surpanakha was exactly what you mentioned—her complexity. History often remembers her for one moment, but there is so much more to her story.”
Rakul Preet Singh added that roles that challenge perception are the most exciting for her, and she hopes people will discover her with an open mind when the film arrives. The tent-pole film, backed by Namit Malhotra, releases during Diwali 2026.
