“Ramayana is definitely a must-watch movie, but at what cost?” This is the question many movie lovers are asking. The Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi-starrer epic is coming to cinemas on November 5, 2026, in multiple languages and formats to offer the best big-screen experience.
People on social media are discussing the high ticket prices, particularly in major urban areas where advance bookings have opened. At INOX Megaplex in Phoenix Mall of the Millennium, Wakad, Pune, IMAX ticket prices go as high as Rs. 2,820 for recliner rows. Even the classic rows are priced at Rs. 1,350. With premium tickets costing nearly Rs. 3,000, movie lovers are asking whether the experience is really worth the price.
Of course, the movie is said to be made on a budget of Rs. 4,000 crore for both parts. But trying to recover such a massive investment from audiences through high ticket prices could be a bad idea, feel many moviegoers.
Some have even argued that this version of Ramayana is becoming a film mainly for the rich, who can afford to spend thousands on tickets.
Even a regular 3D ticket priced at around Rs. 800 can make people think twice before booking. Consider a family of four. At Rs. 800 per ticket, they would spend Rs. 3,200 on tickets alone. If they choose recliner seats priced at Rs. 2,820 each, the total would reach Rs. 11,280, even before adding food, parking and travel expenses. That is a huge amount for a single movie outing.
This could affect the film’s collections if families decide to wait for its OTT release instead of spending so much in theatres. At the same time, strong demand could help the film get a big opening despite the high prices. We need to see how audiences respond once the film releases.
It would be better for the makers to consider all these aspects and make the film accessible to a wider audience. Ticket prices in the Telugu states are also expected to see hikes, and it remains to be seen how people react once bookings open.
