Vijay Deverakonda aims to make a strong comeback with Ranabaali, set in the pre-Independence era. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. What makes Ranabaali distinct from other films involving the British is that it doesn’t focus on the freedom struggle.

Today the theatrical trailer was unveiled and it looks extremely powerful and hard-hitting. Set against the backdrop of the Anantapur region, the movie tells the story of local rebel leader Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali and the glory of his fight against the atrocities of the British.

The ruthless British Generals push India into a severe famine by looting food grains from the Madras Presidency. They even go to the extent of killing innocent infants. Ranabaali’s birth itself is considered a boon by the people, who believe that he was born to fulfill a great purpose.

Vijay Deverakonda appears to have delivered one of his best performances as Ranabaali. His body language, screen presence, and fierce dialogue delivery are the key highlights. Vijay’s efforts to nail the Rayalaseema dialect are particularly impressive. Rashmika Mandanna exudes innocence as Jayamma, while the action sequences are splendidly conceived.

The protagonist doesn’t bow down to the Empire and gives it back to the British by torturing their officers. The makers have spent big on the movie, and the visuals and production values are terrific. Mythri Movie Makers is producing the film, with T-Series presenting it. Ranabaali hits the big screens on October 16.
