RGV announces a controversial film on Father’s Day

On the occasion of Father’s Day, RGV took to Twitter to announce that he’s going to release the first look poster of Amrutha and her father, Maruthi Rao. It’s a well-known fact that Maruthi Rao was arrested and later released from jail after he was charged with honour killing. His daughter, Amrutha distanced herself from her father after her husband Pranay was murdered by killers hired by Maruthi Rao.

The incident, which happened in Miriyalguda in 2018, was hotly debated and a few people even went to the extent of justifying Maruthi Rao’s actions. It’s little wonder that RGV has evinced interest in making a film on the entire incident, and in his tweet, he even termed Maruthi Rao as a ‘loving father’.

Incidentally, nearly a year after he was released from jail, Maruthi Rao died of suicide in March this year. It remains to be seen what all aspects of the father-daughter relationship and the subsequent events in the are going to be highlighted in the film.
